“야, 너 돈은 어떻게 벌려고 그래?”

친구가 물었다.

“걱정 마, 새끼야. 그런건 문제가 아니야.”

소년이 친구의 말을 거의 자르듯 내뱉었다.

“아니, 문제다 아니다 이게 중요한게 아니라 무엇보다도 나도 지금 그걸 해결 하려는 거라니까? 그니까 내 말은 내 머릿속에 은행이 하나가 통째로 들어가 있다고. 난 그저…”

소년은 쉼표없이 내달리다 불현듯 멈추고는 옅은 미소로 친구를 바라보았다.
친구는 이해가 가지 않는 듯 한쪽 눈을 가늘게 찌푸렸다.
다음 말이 뭐든 당장이라도 비웃어주겠다는 듯 차갑게 소년을 쏘아보고 있었다.
불청객처럼 찾아온 고요속에 소년의 눈은 조금도 흔들리지 않았다.
그가 말을 멈춘 이유는 망설임도, 의심도 아니었다.
분명 그 눈빛 너머에는 어떤 힘 같은 것이 있었다.
새의 날갯짓을 따라가며 방아쇠 위에 손가락을 얹은 사냥꾼처럼
소년은 그저 다음 말을 쏘아낼 완벽한 순간을 찾고 있을 뿐이었다.

“난 그저 하나의 노래만 있으면 돼. 단 하나의 노래.”


"Hey, how are you gonna make money?”

his friend asked.

"Don’t worry, man. That’s not even the issue.”

The boy fired back, almost cutting his friend off.

"I mean, it’s not about whether it’s a problem or not. What matters is—I’m trying to solve it too, okay? What I’m saying is, I’ve got a whole damn bank in my head. I just..."

He rushed the words out in one breath, then paused.
A faint smile appeared on his face as he turned to look at his friend.
His friend squinted one eye, confused.
He gave a cold stare that said: Whatever comes out of your mouth next better make sense.
But the boy's eyes didn’t flinch.
It wasn’t hesitation or doubt that held back what he was about to say.
There was something powerful beyond his eyes.
Like a hunter tracking the wingbeat of a distant bird,
finger resting gently on the trigger,
he waited in the silence,
timing the next line as if it were a bullet.

"I just need one song, one song only."
